HLSA 721: Demographic Data for Health Policy Analysis. Offered in the spring. This class introduces students to how federal surveys are conducted, their error properties, and what role federal survey data play in the policy process. Students also learn how to analyze complex sample data in R and write an emperical paper. The class is focused on masters students, but is often valuable to PhD students.
HLSA 601: Introduction to US Health Systems. Offered in the fall. This class provides a broad overview of the financing and delivery of US health care. We review system performance on the dimensions of access, quality, and cost and discuss ways in which the system intentionally and unintentionally incentivizes different stakeholders. Targeted at masters students.
HLSA 727: Causal Inference in Health Services Research. Offered in the spring. An overview of the conceptual and emperical tools used to infer causation in health services research. Targeted at PhD students. Currently taught by Shelby Steuart.
